My Statement of Faith
I believe that we have all sinned and fallen short of God’s perfect righteousness. This sin then separates us from God, and the Bible teaches us that the penalty for sin is eternal death. The Good News however is that Jesus Christ came and died for our sins, taking our place on the cross. We can now accept the free gift of salvation by admitting our sin to Him, submitting to his rule, and placing our trust in Jesus Christ, our Lord and Saviour.
I believe in the deity of our Lord, Christ Jesus. Jesus is God incarnate, and was manifest in human flesh. He was like us in all ways except for one, being free from sin.
I believe that Christ died for our sins, but that three days later he rose from the dead, ascended into heaven and now sits at the right hand of God. This is the part of the story that we can actually rejoice about that, that Good Friday was not the end for Jesus Christ, but that his story continues.
I believe that there will be a second coming of Jesus Christ. That he will one day return to our fallen world, and we will face a day of judgment. I believe therefore that it is important that we go forth and spread the good news, being examples for Christ in all that we do, until this day comes.
I believe that God exists in Three Persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, and that all members of the Trinity are equal and eternal. They are one in essence, nature, power, action and will, and cannot be separated from one another.
I believe that the Holy Bible is the inspired Word of God, and that it is eternal and unbroken. I believe that as a Christian it is important to spend time each day reading the Bible, and acquainting us with his Word, and as such becoming more aware of his desires for our life.
I believe in the fruits and gifts of the Holy Spirit. I believe that they are essential for the edification of the body of fellow believers, and that they are also an important part in living a life that is pleasing to God. I strive to live my life by the fruits of the spirit, so that others may notice a difference and ask about Jesus Christ.
I believe in salvation by grace. This is a free gift from God, given to all who believe in His Son Jesus, the Christ, and accept Him as the Lord of their life. I believe that as a believer that it is my calling to spread the news of this gift with people whenever God presents opportunities. I also believe that if anyone comes to know Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour through what I say that it is not a result of myself, but rather the result of God working through me.
I believe that being a Christian is more than just a religion. I believe that it is a lifestyle and a relationship, something that should be evident in all that you do. I strive to live each moment of my life for Christ, and although I fall short at times, I know that I always have Jesus Christ to fall back on and for that I am eternally grateful.
